This is such a painfully obvious thing, but I've seen people recently who hadn't picked up on it so I figured I'd just throw t out there.
So, when you are priming a model in multiple pieces, mask off the bits that you are going to be dabbing glue on. Once the paint is dry, you can pull off the tape and you've got naked plastic ready for adhesemintizingination.
Simple? Yeah. Obvious? Youbetcha.
Such a basic concept that it's incredibly easy to forget?
Right on.
lol...
ReplyDeletenow don't i feel silly.
have always been gluing before priming
although realising the problem - never thought to use simple tape!
...yikes.. Are really going to glue on the dreads arms? What if you want to change the weapons? The tip is a good one though.
ReplyDeleteI haven't quite decided if I'll be gluing his arms or not, but even if the answer is no, I'll still need a clean surface for magnets to adhere to, and it's easier to tape the area up before priming than to try to remove the paint later.
ReplyDeleteThat being said, I'm leaning toward gluing the arms. He's one of the Black Reach dreads and regular arms won't fit without some engineering anyway.
